Hi Sam Members,
The the past two days, we’ve had a few events, the Sonoma Chicken Scoop and a guest speaker from Hyatt. I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank everybody who came out to Sonoma and support us with our fundraiser.
I would also like to thank those who came out to listen to Vasuki. I hope you learned and got some useful information from the guest speaker today. For those who were not able to make it Vasuki gave out a few useful information such as the job search website for hyatt which is “http://hyatt.jobs”
Thanks again for coming, and hope to see you all at our next event.

Power Networking Social
Sep 3
Welcome back SJSU! SAM is eager to present our first meeting of the semester which should start off things off on the right foot – our Power Networking Social. This unique event will provide 2 things: the opportunity to meet other motivated business-minded students, as well as the chance to earn some experience with networking. There’s possibly no skill more important to your career than the ability to easily and openly meet new people, and hopefully an event like this will help you become more comfortable with the process.
When: Tuesday, September 9, 2008, 5:00pm
Where: Student Union, Ohlone Room
This event will also provide you the chance to meet existing SAM members and officers and find out about the exciting open officer positions that we have available that you might want to volunteer for. The Power Networking Social is free to attend and open to any and all San Jose State students. Look forward to seeing you there!

This unique event will feature a catered 3-course dinner, a formal graduate roll call, photo opportunities, and lots of opportunities to mix and mingle with students, friends, family, and faculty. SAM has partnered with FMA to continue our efforts to bring the best student groups together! See you there!
SAM, in association with the Entrepreneurial Society (ES) is holding a special speaker event. Chris Zephro from Seagate will be speaking on Throughput Decision Support: A Better Alternative to Cost Accounting.
The event is at a special time and place: Tuesday May 6th at 9pm in BBC 004 (downstairs Boccardo Business building).
Also – as if it’s tech week or something! (it’s not by the way) – don’t forget Cisco speaking at SAM on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30pm in BBC 004.
Look forward to seeing you all out to these great events!
2008 SJSU Day of Service
Apr 25
You probably couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to spend in the city of San Jose – and that’s just what a few of us SAM members did today to help out our community. The 2nd Annual San Jose State University Day of Service kicked off Friday, April 25th, and SAM was in attendance with several members – Jay Patel, Hiwat Abebe, Dave Cole, Cecilia Melgar, and Anna Mendez.
For this year’s event, we were chosen to help clean up the river area by the Guadalupe Park Riverwalk, stretching all the way from Highway 280 down to HP Pavilion. Sure we got a little dirty, but the results of our efforts were well worth the while – we filled an entire pickup truck bed with trash that we collected down just one small stretch of the river. It’s amazing how much garbage collects that we don’t even notice!
After we finished our clean up efforts, we returned to San Jose State for an afternoon barbeque, as well as some fun and games. Overall, it was a very worthwhile event and we’re proud to represent not only the SAM organization, but also our university and the community we call our home. Make sure to keep an eye out for another event next year!
