SAM End of the Year Banquet

Can this semester already be half-over? Whew! This is flying by. We here at SAM are busy trying to coordinate our end of the year activities, and in addition to a few more social events that we’re planning on adding to this Spring 2008 semester, we’re also going to be putting on a SAM End of the Year Banquet. We’re still trying to get a better idea of how many people are interested, so take a look.

Review: Interview Skills Workshop

Interview Skills WorkshopWednesday, March 12, 2008 – After the Job Fair Success workshop, and the Job Fair, it was a perfect conclusion to this track of courses to have an interview skills workshop, brought together again by the SJSU Career Center.

Central to the Interview Skills Workshop included several handouts, as well as information about what to expect in a modern interview, and how to properly prepare for those tough interview questions. Probably the best handout of the event featured a range of tough and commonly-heard interview questions, and then we took a few minutes to practice our interview skills with one another.

Overall, this was another great workshop to help us understand the ins-and-outs of interviewing, and most people in the room seemed eager and ready for their upcoming career opportunities. Thanks again to the Career Center for providing the time and resources for this workshop.

SJSU Career Expo - March 5, 2008

March 5, 2008 – San Jose State Events Center – The career center put on a great career expo this year, featuring over 120 companies from around the Silicon Valley. Lots of the heavy hitters were out in force, including Cisco, Yahoo, IBM, PG&E, Target, and many more. Of course, there were plenty of smaller companies featuring booths with friendly recruiters ready to answer questions and get SJSU students (especially, of course, SAM members) started within their organizations. Review: University Chicken Social

SAM University Chicken SocialThe time management workshop was a great way to spend the afternoon, but once it got dark, a social seemed in order. Several of SAM’s members were able to come out, as well as members from some of the other student business organizations on campus including the Financial Management Association (FMA) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
