Hey everyone!

LBSA (Latino Business Student Association) has invited SAM out to their semesterly Salsa Night Fundraiser Social event!

Don’t know how to salsa? Dont worry! We’re going to teach you! The salsa night will take place at Azucar! Latin Bistro & Mojito Bar in Downtown San Jose. The event starts at 8PM and as usual, directions are provided below. All members are encouraged to come out and have fun and learn a new skill!

Good evening everyone!

First off, I would like to thank all the members as well as the other officers for such a successful month thus far. We have all worked really hard to prepare for this semester, and things are looking great already! Good job everyone!!

Secondly, I’d like to update everyone on a few events coming down the line as well as a few loose ends.

- Thursday/Friday February 25/26th @ TBD, Dinner/Social, Billiards, Bowling or Rock climbing
- Thursday, March 11th, 3:00PM, 2nd General Meeting @ SJSU Student Union – Room TBD
- Thursday, March 11th, 7:00PM @ Camera 12 Cinemas. Movie: Alice in Wonderland 3D. Cost: $7

SAM will be hosting a movie night fundraiser at Camera 12 Cinemas in Downtown San Jose on March 11th @ 7pm. It is our very first fundraiser of the year and it is shaping up to be an exciting night. We will be showing Alice in Wonderland in Disney Digital 3D, glasses will be provided! Tickets can be purchased from any of our officers as well as some members! Hurry before tickets sell out! Our 2nd general meeting occurs on the same day, and while the agenda has not been announced, look for updates on that very soon.

Next, we’d like to get your input on a happy hour/social for the last week of February. We’re planning to host an unsponsored happy hour/social on Friday, the 26th at Flames Restaurant. All members and non-members are invited to come out and meet the officers as well as other members on a more personal level. We all know how hard it is to get to know people in more formal settings, and would love for you to all come out and get to know each other better!

SAM End of the Year Banquet

Can this semester already be half-over? Whew! This is flying by. We here at SAM are busy trying to coordinate our end of the year activities, and in addition to a few more social events that we’re planning on adding to this Spring 2008 semester, we’re also going to be putting on a SAM End of the Year Banquet. We’re still trying to get a better idea of how many people are interested, so take a look.

This week we have two events scheduled that should provide a great glimpse in to the real world of management, as well as provide everyone with a chance to mix and mingle – and help raise funds for our organization.

First up is our Enterprise Rent-A-Car speaker which will be on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30pm in the BBC 003. Review: University Chicken Social

The time management workshop was a great way to spend the afternoon, but once it got dark, a social seemed in order. Several of SAM’s members were able to come out, as well as members from some of the other student business organizations on campus including the Financial Management Association (FMA) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

The evening was a fun time, including some vigorous games of cross-departmental pool (to be honest, I think SHRM ended up taking the final victory – we need some SAM pool sharks!), some good eats and drinks, and of course lots of networking and casual conversation. As usual, the diversity of San Jose State’s student body is apparent, as well as the great attitudes of everyone involved in the business department.

Also, our next social is coming up towards the end of March – take a look at our Events Calendar to see if you can make it out. Even if you’re not a member, swing by, have some pizza, enjoy some conversation, and learn about how SAM might be right for you.
