Movie Fundraiser

SAM will be having a movie fundraiser for, “In Time” on November 10th 2011. The movie tickets will be for sale at $7 each. Please come join us with your friends and family on this great Thursday night. You will be getting a discount on a great film!

MS Bake Sale & Etiquette Dinner

First off, I would just like to thank everybody for the successful help at the MS Bake Sale. We made a very generous amount to donate. In addition, I would like to thank Melissa and Kallie with their expert baking skills. Right when it was put for sale, it sold out almost instantly!

Second, The Etiquette Dinner is scheduled next week one week from today at the Flames Restaurant in a private room. There will be a $20 fee per attendee. Please contact Sterling at, sgxc12_89@msn.com regarding the fee. There is an RSVP form set up, lease make sure everybody has completed this RSVP form.

On Tuesday, SJSU Career Center will be holding another fair. This fair will be a little smaller than the last one and will focus mostly for summer. There will be representatives from all sorts of companies looking for students to intern over the summer. The fair will be held in the Student Union Ball Room from 12-3pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.

“Currently registered SJSU students and Career Center alumni members are invited to meet in-person with employers recruiting for their career and internship positions. Open to all majors. Dress is professional and preparation is important, attend a Job Fair Success Workshop to increase your marketability! Be sure to check SpartaJobs toward the end of March for a detailed list of attending employers.” – SJSU Career Center

The following day, we will be having our Alumni Panel. Several alumni’s which have graduated last year, will be returning to give students some advice and speak about their experiences after graduation. All the almuni’s are now working at big companies such as Cisco, Polycom and Juniper Networks. This is a great opportunity to come and ask any kind of career questions you may have or to build your network! Alumni’s will also be there to talk one-to-one for more personal questions and advices.

On Friday, one of the biggest social event is scheduled. A major collaboration with all the business associations and major companies from Google, HP, Apple, Intel and Intuit will be at the event. We strongly encourage members to come. This is a great opportunity to get connections from major companies and meet other business students. Students must dress business casual. Appetizers will be provided. SAM has paid all fees, so this will be a FREE event for members.

Resume Workshop

SAM and MA (Management Association) will be holding a Resume Workshop this coming Thursday. This workshop will help students prepare and/or enhance a current resume to make it ready for the work world. Being that the Job Fair is coming the following week, this is a great time to improve resume’s before submitting them to professionals.

The Resume Workshop is FREE to paid members. However, if you are not a member, you can still come, for small fee of $5.

Come by to work on your resume, or just meet new people by networking with others. All majors welcome. Please RSVP here

Personal Branding: Authentic Leadership

Hi Sam Members,

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Break! Unfortunately, we are all back in school today with this freakishly cold weather. I just wanted to let everybody know about an upcoming event that LBSA is hosting, Personal Branding: Authentic Leadership. We have collaborated with LBSA to allow SAM members to join the event. It is required that everybody register for the event. Spaces are limited, so sign up soon! The event is this coming Wednesday, December 1st from 5-6:30.

LBSA writes: “The theme will be focused on Authentic Leadership, featuring Sheryl Grant, motivational speaker with experience of over 20 years in Fortune 500 companies such as HP and dell. Collaborating among 9 Business Organizations, and sponsorship from the College of Business Alumni Network, this is guaranteed to be an elite, educational and networking experience.”

Alumni General Meeting

As many may know, SAM has been quite quiet this semester as far as meetings go. There has been so many issues and time constraints which came up. However, we are having an Alumni Panel/General Meeting this coming week.
